Joshua Tree National Park will be too hot to visit in the next few months, so get your trips in now. Our favorite campground is Jumbo Rocks, which offers beautiful views of the desert, close encounters with the iconic monzogranite boulders, and a quick hike to the famous Skull Rock.

Red Rock is conveniently close to the exciting city of Las Vegas. It is a wonderful getaway if you’ve had enough of the lights, or a great place to explore if you have avoided the city because you thought it only offered lights. The park offers a variety of activities, good for a variety of interests and skill levels.

Barton Flats Campground is a beautiful and accessible camping spot close to Los Angeles and closer to Big Bear. It is a great place to take your family in the summer, as well as in the Fall when crowds and the weather cool down.

Mt. Langley is a lesser known 14er in the Eastern Sierra Nevada. It is relatively easy to get a permit and offers the option of a 22-mile round trip day hike or a longer, more relaxed backpacking trip including a night or two camping by beautiful alpine lakes.
