Camping Locations
Jumbo Rocks Campground- Joshua Tree NP
— May 16th, 2013Joshua Tree National Park will be too hot to visit in the next few months, so get your trips in now. Our favorite campground is Jumbo Rocks, which offers beautiful views of the desert, close encounters with the iconic monzogranite boulders, and a quick hike to the famous Skull Rock.
Point Mugu State Park
— April 3rd, 2013Point Mugu State Park is a great local spot about 1 hour out Los Angeles, just North of Leo Carillo State Park. Take your pick of a site with a view on the Pacific or in the shade of Sycamore Canyon.
Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area
— March 20th, 2013Red Rock is conveniently close to the exciting city of Las Vegas. It is a wonderful getaway if you’ve had enough of the lights, or a great place to explore if you have avoided the city because you thought it only offered lights. The park offers a variety of activities, good for a variety of interests and skill levels.
Jawbone Canyon
— February 27th, 2013Have an off-road adventure and camp at Jawbone Canyon, near Red Rock Canyon State Park.
Barton Flats Campground
— September 12th, 2012Barton Flats Campground is a beautiful and accessible camping spot close to Los Angeles and closer to Big Bear. It is a great place to take your family in the summer, as well as in the Fall when crowds and the weather cool down.
Mt. Langley, Eastern Sierra
— August 23rd, 2012Mt. Langley is a lesser known 14er in the Eastern Sierra Nevada. It is relatively easy to get a permit and offers the option of a 22-mile round trip day hike or a longer, more relaxed backpacking trip including a night or two camping by beautiful alpine lakes.
McGill Campground
— July 26th, 2012McGill campground is a fantastic place to escape the heat of LA in the summer, as it’s nearby and easy to get to. Entertain yourself with hiking during the day and stargazing at night.
Redwood Canyon
— July 13th, 2012If you’re looking to hike in the shade of giant Redwood trees, and drink fresh water from bubbly creeks then Redwood Canyon in Kings Canyon National Park is the place for you.
Figueroa Campground
